Our SP12 solar charger is designed for normal feeding schedules and is the charger to use in most applications. If you feed numerous times per day or use long run times the SP2W Heavy Duty solar charger is recommended.
Includes polycrystalline solar cell panels, metal conduit around the wires (to protect them from varmints and the elements), and a heavy duty galvanized mounting bracket with a Hunter Green powder coat finish for long life.
Mounts on the side of a feeder at a fairly flat angle to maximize catching the sun for improved charging. Texas Hunter feeders come with pre-drilled mounting holes and a wiring harness for connecting the panel, so installation is easy.
A good thing to know: Feeder solar panels are not designed to charge or "bring back" a badly discharged battery. They are simply designed to maintain a battery in a charged state and replenish the energy depleted in the normal daily use of a feeder. If you don't use a solar panel, you will need a battery charger designed/sized for this type of battery.
All our batteries come fully charged and a good solar panel will keep them that way for the life of the battery. We highly recommend a solar panel on every feeder, not only because of the convenience of not having to remove batteries for charging, but because our experience indicates it makes batteries last longer.
Our EZ612 Digital Timer has a solar panel charging feature that lets you know if your solar panel is working. It also has a battery charge indicator that works with or without a solar panel.
