This is the complete Speed Feed SF125-EB802 Feeder Filler package. It is a work horse.
It includes a 125# capacity SF125 hopper, mixing chamber, and flow control valve, and a Shindaiwa EB802 Blower. The EB802 is a 2 cycle (mix gas and oil) Heavy Duty commercial back pack blower. If you prefer a 4 cycle engine select the Shindaiwa 8510 package. it adds $50 to the price. (Note: the picture shows an EB630 Blower, which is similar but not the 802)
It moves up to 100 pounds per minute of corn. Requires a 4 inch diameter PVC discharge pipe, which is not included. (I use a lightweight PVC pipe 10 feet long with a 90 degree fitting on the end.)
If you need help justifying the cost for this item, and have already factored in improved safety and reduced labor, try looking at this product as the dual use, year around investment that it is.
I have used electric blowers for years in my yard and shops and never considered getting a gas powered back pack blower, especially with what I considered to be their exceptionally high prices. However, after buying a Speed Feed to fill my feeders, I found that gas powered blowers are far superior to the electrics. Variable speed and raw power are a couple of big differences. I, or my employees, now use my EB630 blower (the predecessor of the EB802) all year around, at least weekly, and I will never go back to an electric version again. There is just no comparison, and the time/labor savings alone justify my owning one, even if I never fill another feeder with it.
A personal note on the EB630 blower: My own EB630 is now well over 6 years old and has never had any repairs or even a spark plug change, and it still starts on the first or second pull everytime. I used it again a few days ago and it cranked on the second pull - it is without a doubt the best, most dependable small gas engine I have ever owned!
In the picture the blower is attached to the hopper by an S shaped metal bracket that hooks over the top of the hopper and through the handle on the backback. I use this sometimes, but more often I just sit it on the bags of corn in the back of my truck and use it from there.
